So there were people and there were people all over the makeshift stage at the Fountain of Wealth in Suntec. Some were there to see the event while most were family and friends who went to cheer for those (family and friends) who were getting their heads shaven. There were a few young magicians stationed around to entertain people too. One came to us while I was waiting for my turn and he got me to sign on a card for his trick. Basically he put that card in the middle of the deck and with a wave of his fingers, that signed card would appear on the top of it. He did the trick 4 times, the last time with the card faced up into the middle of the deck. and with his palm covering it, again the signed card appeared at the top once more. Well, we were happily entertained by his skills, and I got to keep the card too. Should hav chosen the Ace of Spades though... (I took the Ace of Diamonds)
Anyway, soon after that, it was finally my turn
A day later today, seems people around me are taking it well. No shocking looks from them. (Even said i look cute *gah!*) And it would be my choice to be proud of the hairdo and not wear anything to cover it. But then the disturbing thing which im quite, erm disturbed by is the shape of my head. It's slightly conical, so much so i feel eggheaded when i see myself in the mirror. So ended up with me wearing something just to cover up the shape of my head.
But seriously, I really think people around are too soaked up in their own happenings to be bothered with the shape of somebody else's head. Just the self-conscious me feeling bothered by it.
On the same note, I guess that's how those people going through chemotherapy will feel when they are undergoing treatment. Not only hairloss, but bloating under the skin and skin discolouration as well. Not to mention nausea and loss of appetite. All the more reasons for them to shun the looks from others. Which also brings to me another thought... will our actions be significant enough to bring about any awareness to the public? To me, right now the first thout that came to mind is the emotional support that we had given to the children suffering from the illness. Perhaps not just the children, but to the adult patients as well. That there are people out there who are willing to help. Well, 1000 out of 4 mil people who volunteered ain't much, but perhaps through this 1000 who will further touch lives of those whom they know? Through the financial support they are able to contribute? Hopefully every bit count.
Last but not least, I'll want to thank all those who accompanied me at the event yesterday, and all those who supported me in one way or another, especially telling me that my egghead is kinda cute in every sense.
